Firm History. The Ever Given wedged across the Suez Canal, 23 March 2021.

2021. Baculum Capital Management is organized to deploy AI-powered decentralized fintech strategies on the blockchain. The firm regards non-fungible tokens as a durable new asset class.

March 2021. The container ship Ever Given runs aground in the Suez Canal. For six days a single vessel holds an estimated $9.6 billion of world trade per day, and more than 300 ships queue at either end. The firm takes note. One hull and one bank of sand had repriced roughly 12% of global trade. The firm concludes that the maritime domain is the most underpriced system on Earth, and that whoever can see, wait, and act at sea will set its price.

April 2021. The firm launches $BONE, a community token. See Bulletin #1. The $BONE liquidity pool is retired on May 19, 2021, the day bitcoin falls by as much as 30% in a few hours.

2021–22. Seeking to bring the ocean on-chain, the firm facilitates the launch of several limited-edition NFT collections supporting ocean conservation: Abyssal Genesis (333 editions), Kelp Punks (1,000 editions), and Chain of Reefs (an ERC-1155 collection with on-chain royalties). Across all collections, primary sales and royalties raise dozens of dollars for the oceans. See Bulletin #2.

2022. The firm exits all digital-asset positions.

2023. The firm completes its reorientation toward physical fundamentals and the maritime domain, and becomes lead investor in W2 Research.

2024. Idaho field office established. The firm leads the seed round of The Idaho Castor Company.
